Water Damage in Los Angeles
As far as water damage in Los Angeles is concerned there are so many causes! The San Andreas is a major cause of damage – quakes are tough on city infrastructure – particularly water mains. A broken water main can destroy not just homes but also other infrastructure. A water main can pump millions of gallons of water, under pressure, into the surrounding ground. The volume and quantity of water can liquify large amounts of ground – which causes collpase and cavitation. Stretchs of road can collapse into what is suddenly a large open space beneath them – while the wate carries away the ground which used to support that road. The mud of course ends up covering other building or other structures – and requiring their clean up to. Then of course there is coastal erosion – but that’s a whole other story…
