The Spear is a Chinese Martial Arts Weapon
Those ancient Chinese warriors developed martial arts styles for so many of their weapons but one of the more over looked Chinese martial arts weapons is the spear. The spear is a powerful martial arts weapon because it provides great distance and also allows for a heavy handed strike. The skilled martial artist can manipulate the spear in ways that will skewer multiple opponents and weave and bounce in and out to defend the wielder.
The only problem with the spear is that once an opponent gets in close with you the weapon basically becomes useless. That is a dilemma for most of the long ranged martial arts weapons. Once you’ve gotten into the close combat area, where else are you going to go? Luckily the skilled martial artist won’t allow his enemy to break his invisible boundary and any who try will be met with the sharp end of his stick.
