One of the fun aspects of having an outdoor fire pit is being able to burn different types of wood in it to enjoy the specific characteristics of those different types of wood. A couple of popular types of are mesquite wood or pinion wood.

Mesquite is popular if you’re cooking over your fire pit. It gives a distinct smokey flavor to the foods cooked over a fire using this wood. It burns hot and slow.

Pinion wood is popular for it’s pine scent it gives off while burning. But another big reason it’s so popular is because of its ability to keep the mosquitoes away. Now that’s a nice benefit! Some people even start a fire while it’s still warm outside just to keep the bugs from joining their gathering.
