When you go to look for a flea bomb, you’ll want to read the labels and look for two specific chemicals.  You don’t need to know the specific names of the chemicals.  All you need to know is that you are looking for flea bombs that do two things.  First, they must kill any adult fleas.  This chemical will often be referred to as an adulticide.  Second, they must render any surviving fleas 100% sterile and incapable of reproducing.  If some of the fleas survive and are capable of reproducing, the life cycle will continue and your flea problem will continue as well.

If you go to all the trouble a fumigating your home with a flea bomb, you will want to also treat your dog with a medicated flea shampoo to prevent him from carrying an entire new colony back into your home to start the trouble all over again.  I would also recommend that you treat your lawn and yard with a pesticide that is designed to kill fleas that are living in your grass. You might want to keep your dog safely contained in a large dog cage during this process.

If you are one of those who chooses to use a flea bomb to fumigate your home from fleas, be sure and read the manufactures directions very closely and follow those directions closely as well.  When you reenter the house,  I would recommend you open all of the doors and windows and turn some fans on to ventilate the house.  During this time you should also start washing any kitchen utensils, bedding, and clothing that was left behind during the fumigation process.
