It also is important to consider the futon frame. The futon frame, comes in two types, the bi-fold and the tri-fold. Most of the time, the bi-fold is used, because it is cheaper, much more affordable, available and it also saves space, considering that it uses the length of the mattress for the couch or sofa, and can only fold once. The tri-fold, on the other hand, takes up a huge amount of space considering that it uses the width of the mattress, and folds twice. It also is important to note that a frame is mostly made out of metal or wood, or even a combination of both.

All it takes is some initial patience and dedication to finding a set of styles, patterns and materials that will work in your space, then you just purchase a set of futon covers and off you go.  Since they vary in price from around $30 USD for a simple cotton cover in to over $100 USD for more luxurious fabrics and leathers, you might want to buy them in stages.  You can get at least six or so at once, then buy a few more as you like you need to invest in more variety.
