Sell My House: Choosing a Real Estate Agent
The thought comes to your mind, I’m going to sell my house and now my buddy who is a real estate agent will expect me to list it with him. He may or may not be the best person to list it with, take time to discuss with him your concerns and tell him you would like to interview prospective agents and you would like him to be one of them. Ask him point blank if he will be offended if you opt to go with another agent.
Discussing upfront may lessen any hurt feelings by clearly expressing your opinion and desire early on. Take the interview process seriously, make sure you ask each the same list of questions and look for someone who is knowledgeable, experienced, successful and personable. If you don’t find the right person in the first group keep looking. Choosing the correct agent first will make a difference in how quickly the house is sold and for how much.
