Seaside Heights

Coney Island is just not the place we wanted to return to this year so instead we decided to head to Seaside Heights New Jersey. It is a little far, compared to the relatively short jaunt over to CI, but it was time try something new. It turned out the ride was not so bad but we were lucky in being able to leave early Thursday afternoon. So far too, Seaside is a pretty cool place.

The boardwalk is just huge. There are two amusement piers, at least a dozen arcades, food stands, games, shops and even a roof top putt-putt golf course. The commercial part of it is over a mile long and it is a really hopping place at night.

The beach is just great. Nice and wide and the sand is nice. Very clean and the beach is backed by boardwalk. Anything you want is within a few minutes walk. Of course everything is way overpriced, so a soda is a few dollars but that is life on the beach just about anywhere.

There are a lot of hotels in Seaside Heights. In fact along the back of the boardwalk and many of the streets that run into it, it seems that is all there are on many streets. No Holiday Inns or chain motels though. Mom and Pop all the way, and some are in better shape than others.

That is my two day recon of Seaside Heights. Time to get back to the beach, and relaxing.
