Sandwich Platter Ideas

A collection of different types of sandwiches on a plate is called a sandwich platter. For those who are looking forward to hosting an event or a party, sandwich platters are a quick and relatively effortless way to welcome guests with a snack they will not forget.

The first written clue of a sandwich is dated back to the 18th century, which proves that these foods have been popular for almost three centuries. Back then it meant greasy bits of meat between slices of bread to be consumed with bare fingers.

One of the most popular versions of the sandwich is the chicken salad variation. The basic recipe consists of chicken bits either from leftover meat or cooked boneless chicken breast fillets. Both ways produce a tasty sandwich.

These chicken bits are mixed with a garlicky sauce most often containing mayonnaise, and some kind of animal fat. Lettuce is added for a more balanced harmony. Any kind of bread is fine for this sandwich, but a whole-wheat loaf is the best way to go.

Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian guests will love an original English cucumber sandwich. These are light and easy to make sandwiches that still taste delicious. A cucumber sandwich needs to be made of a firm whole cucumber peeled and seeded, sea salt and ground pepper and some thinly sliced white bread.

Thinly slice cucumber and add a pinch of salt. Leave slices on a towel for a few minutes to release moisture, use another towel to dry them up. Spread butter on the bottom slice, add the cucumbers, and sprinkle the ground pepper. Close it with the top slice and cut crust. Before serving cut the sandwiches in two triangles.

There is a sandwich with crusty bacon in North America that enjoys great popularity thanks to the balance from tasty bacon, fresh lettuce and ripe tomatoes. The original recipe had cheese as an ingredient but more recently it’s omitted.

Bacon sandwiches are called “bacon butties” in England, and are just as popular as in the USA. No sandwich platter is complete without these, think about making some for your guests.

It doesn’t matter if you want to make some snack for 3 people or 30, sandwiches are a great way to get the buffet solved, even without much time or experience the result will make people remember the occasion.
