Rosacea Treatments: IPL and PDL Laser Treatment

The use of PDL and IPL laser treatments is an established rosacea treatment practice. Gaining momentum in the 1990′s and given official approval by the FDA in the mid-90′s for use on rosacea, laser treatments have been a popular – and growing – treatment ever since.

Laser treatments are effective at reducing facial redness, itchiness, and general discomfort of the face and neck common to rosacea patients. The majority of patients studied showed major improvements in these areas – especially facial redness, as the main target of the laser treatments is against the blood vessels that formerly were surfacing on the face of the patient.

Note that bruising of the face is a normal side effect of the treatments, according to the Rosacea Treatment Guide. It’s possible to have laser treatments without bruising, but, this actually is not ideal; when the skin bruises, it means the treatments are more likely to see their desired result.

Are laser treatments right for you? This will depend on your personal health history, treatment history, and severity of rosacea. The best plan to move forward with this question is to discuss it with your doctor.
