There are many different ways you can overcome your fear of driving. You can use hypnotherapy, you can use self help CD’s or you can mentally prepare yourself for the challenge ahead. However you decide to overcome your fear, you should do some research first to make sure you don’t waste time and money. Here are a few methods that have been broken down and explained to you.
There are three different ways that you can overcome fear of driving. The first one is to seek medical help from your doctor. Your doctor will suggest you seek counseling to start with. This helps you come to terms with your fear but doesn’t actually help you tackle it. You may feel enlightened as to why you feel the way you do when driving but it doesn’t help you get behind that wheel and drive without having a panic attack. Your doctor may also prescribe you medication. This medication will make you feel like nothing can phase you and the panic attacks will vanish. Unfortunately so will your moods and feelings as even the most upsetting thing wont phase you on these drugs. The second way is to seek alternate medicine such as hypnotherapy and acupuncture. This is all well and good if you believe in these methods but can cost a small fortune and have no medical or have even been proved to work.
The final way (which is probably the most effective) is to re-train your mind. You have driving phobias because of bad experiences making your mind think that driving is dangerous. In order to re-train your mind you have to have positive thoughts and make new positive memories. This can only be done if you want to so don’t even try if you aren’t ready. Don’t be a slave to your phobia, beat it!
