Dogs Bring People Together

When I first met my wife, we were at public library in Boston’s Back Bay district. In a scene straight out of some cheesy old romance movie, we both reached for the same book and, as we fumbled over the last remaining copy of Matt’s Beagle Training Tips our eyes met and I knew that, at the very least, I would be buying this woman a cup of coffee. Two cappuccinos and one shared Canoli later and we were knee deep in discovering each other and the many ways in which we were similar. Beyond both owning a beagle, we were both born and raised in Connecticut and had both moved to Boston shortly after college in order to find work.

While many people meet like this every day I knew that Jen and I were soul mates, that we would be perfect together. Fourteen years later we are still married and have three lovely children and two beagles and a cat. We live in the suburbs outside of the city that brought us together and make point, every year, to return to the book store where we met share a cappuccino, a Canoli, and a beautiful memory.
