Consider Your Activity When Buying Running Shoes

When deciding on a new pair of running shoes you should base you decision on where you are going to be doing the majority of your running. Perhaps when you bought your last pair of shoes you were planning on running on solid surfaces such as the asphalt but ended up doing more running on forest trails. This might mean a readjustment in the shoes that you buy.

Trail running shoes are designed differently to running shoes that are meant for the road. For starters they are sturdier in their construction so that they perform on the more demanding terrain. Most are given a waterproof coating because they are more likely to be immersed in water when out on the trails. The outsole is also designed to cater for the type of surface they have to cover with a wider base and deeper treads to grip the ground better.

One of the most popular types of trail running shoes is the Asics Trabuco 13 which is a trail shoe that has been fitted with the Asics Gel cushioning system and is lighter than the standard trail shoe. This is a solid shoe that has the toughness and durability of a trail shoe and the performance of a road shoe.

Other shoes such as cross country shoes and cross trainers are also designed differently with more of an emphasis on lateral support. These shoes are all-round sports shoes that might be used when playing volleyball or participating in an aerobics class. The side to side movements of these types of sports means that there must be extra support given to the ankles.

By not taking the type of running or exercise you will be performing when you buy your shoes you will be much more likely to buy a pair of shoes that are unsuitable. Unsuitable shoes become uncomfortable shoes which can then become the shoes that caused an injury. Either that or they just end up collecting dust in your bonnetiere! So think twice and make a wise decisions when it comes to buying running shoes. :)
