When I bought my wife a pair of Tory Burch shoes last summer I instantly became the most popular husband in her little collection of friends. How many times have you gone to your jewelry box and taken out your best sterling silver necklace or sterling silver hoop earrings, and they are so tarnished that you are ashamed to wear them? I hate to admit I have had that happen. Not any more though, since I learned how to remove the tarnish easily, and then to store the jewelry properly.

The first thing you should do is to clean the jewelry thoroughly. You can use commercial jewelry cleaner or you can use mild soap, like dishwashing liquid, and warm water. A small brush will help you remove all traces of dirt and skin oils, etc. After rinsing, dry the earrings with a soft cotton cloth. The next steps, which will remove built up tarnish, should only be done by an adult because boiling water is used.

Get some water boiling, preferably in a teapot or pan that can be poured from easily. Crumple a large piece of tinfoil very loosely, and spread the tinfoil out in the bottom of a heat-resistant baking dish with sides at least 2” high. Now, place your sterling silver hoop earrings (and your sterling silver and diamond cushion cut engagement rings or any other sterling silver jewelry you have) in the dish, on top of the foil. Sprinkle heavily with baking soda, and then pour the boiling water very slowly over the jewelry. The smell of sulfur will tell you it is working. Let everything cool for a few minutes, and then remove the jewelry. Rinse it well and dry it again with a cotton cloth. You will be amazed at how beautiful and tarnish-free your jewelry looks!

Perfume Review: Obsession Night by Calvin Klein

This Obsession Night was created in 2005 as a variation of the original Obsession for women. This fragrance has an unusual style compared to other Calvin Klein perfumes, with dark and sensual orange notes, accompanied by also dark florals.
The opening is sweet and fruity, within the family of blackberries and with an aromatic orange. In the middle notes this dark orange aroma is dominant, supported by florals, fresh but not enough to give a summery style. There seem to be roses, plus other traditional flowers like lily-of-the-valley plus a sweet fruit which seems to be an apricot.
Here and there, the orange mixes with the florals to create a note which is similar to Amor Amor by Cacharel.
