Buying Bedding Ensembles from a Catalog

Should you shop for bedding by catalog?
Should you buy bedding ensembles from a catalog?
I have to say it is a hit or a miss affair.
You’ll often find a home section with bedding at the back of the large general catalogs. You’ll see bedding sets advertised at good prices in the catalogs inserted between the pages of magazines and newspapers and you’ll also find more specialized catalogs to send for from bedding companies.
The problem is that it is very difficult to get enough information from a catalog. A color photograph is not always enough to show the true color of your bedding because of the limitations of the printing process and you often can’t get a true measure of the design. As color printing is expensive then there will be a limited number of photos of your chosen bedding.
Also a lot of cheap low quality bedding is sold through catalogs – while you may be attracted to the low price and the photograph you can’t feel the quality of the fabric and you are likely to be disappointed when your bedding set gets delivered.
The manufacturer’s catalogs on the other hand and quality brand bedding sold through catalogs is likely to give you a better idea of what you will receive (though not always at the cheapest price).
The best option is to stick to well-known brands if you want to use mail order or to be prepared to return your bedding ensemble if it falls short of expectations. (Be sure to check out the returns policy before ordering)
