A Travel Pillow Story

On a recent trip back to visit family in Chicago, I thought I had forgot one of my most cherished travel companions, my travel pillow.  Seriously, I don’t know how I flew before without one.  I have one of those simple “U” shaped or horseshoe-shaped ones.  Mine is cotton and has some type of cover on it.  I’ve seen those inflatable ones and think they are great too, I just don’t have one.  I’ve heard they are just as good.  Plus, with an inflatable neck pillow like that, you can pack it flat and it doesn’t weigh anything so it makes sense for air travel.

In any case, I ended up getting stuck in a middle seat – ah, the joys of late travel booking.  So, there I was, in the middle.  How can you sleep when you are wedged between strangers?  You can either make quick friends and then doze off with your head on a shoulder or you can use a travel pillow.  Well, these people next to me were nice and all, but I opted for the second option and woke up just before our descent into Chicago feeling rested and had no neck pain either, a bonus!
